GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION UNIT

UNIT OVERVIEW

Led by a Director

The Government Communication Unit is an important part of the internal structure of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. It was established with the aim of coordinating and overseeing the dissemination of official government information to the public through the media and various communication channels. This unit contributes to building public awareness of government activities and policies by ensuring that the information provided is accurate, timely, and transparent including matters related to the promotion of both domestic and international tourism.

Core Objective of the Unit

To ensure that the information provided is accurate, timely, and delivered in an appropriate manner to the public regarding the policies, plans, achievements, and various activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and its affiliated institutions.

FUNCTIONS

This Unit will perform the following functions:

  1. Coordinate Government Communication to the Public Distribute official information about the Ministry’s operations and achievements through various media.
  2. Ensure Availability of Accurate Information on National Resources Educating the public on the importance of conserving forests, wildlife, cultural heritage sites, and protected areas, as well as promoting tourism both domestically and internationally.
  3. Managing Meetings and Maintaining Relations with the Media” Managing and organizing media briefings on key sector and Ministry issues, as well as maintaining good collaboration with journalists to ensure the public has access to accurate information.
  4. Coordinate Promotional Campaigns and Advertisements Design and implement campaigns to promote both domestic and international tourism.
  5. Manage the Ministry’s Website and Social Media Platforms Regularly update the Ministry’s official Website and social media accounts with relevant and educational content.
  6. Coordinate Production of Government Publications Prepare and distribute brochures, newsletters, and reports on conservation and tourism initiatives.
  7. Advise Ministry Leaders on Public Communication Provide strategic communication guidance to leaders, especially during crises or sensitive matters.
  8. Monitor and Analyze Media Reports Track media coverage relating to the Ministry and analyze trends for informed decision-making.
  9. Preserve Communication Records Archive official documents, photos, videos, and publications for reference and institutional memory.
  10. Monitoring the Impact of Communication, Information Security, and Misinformation Control Assessing public awareness and the impact of government messages on the community, as well as refuting false information that may harm the Ministry or the Government.
  11. Oversee Communication Protocols Ensure all communications adhere to Government policies and uphold national image.
